Hoping you had a warm and wonderful holiday. We can learn much about the nature of God from Christmas. Only a truly loving, good, and generous God could inspire so many people to be so happy for his birthday. This happiness is available to everyone, whether they believe or not.
In the past the Western world observed twelve days of Christmas. These twelve days came after, not leading up to, Christmas day, culminating with Twelfth Night. It was the traditional time that the Wise Men were believed to have come to see the Baby Jesus. In this pattern, Christmas Day was the beginning, not the culmination of the celebration of Christ’s birth.
In this tradition, when the Wisemen visited, it was called the Feast of Epiphany. The awareness of the revelation of Christ had taken place for them at the manger.
Luke 24:31 – Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight.
Matthew 27:54 – 54 When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”
John 1:29 – The next day he *saw Jesus coming to him and *said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
Romans 3:11 – …there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.
Isaiah 55:6 – Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
